Agares Bazin

Agares Bazin (騎士 , Kishi Agaresu, Knight Agares) is a non-playable character in the Tactics Ogre games. He is the second enemy leader faced in all versions.

His name was localized as Agres in the orignal North American Playstation release, and he was given the surname Bazin in the Warren Report of the 2010 PSP remake. His given name, Agares, comes from the various real-world demonological grimoires.

Appearances

In Chapter 1, after defeating Bapal's forces in front of the castle gates, Denam's party enters inside the castle passageway. There, Agares stands ready to defend the castle with his life. He questions why the Zenobian foreigners have involved themselves in the age old conflict between the Walister and Galgastani, to which Lanselot replies that it suits them to do so. Canopus also asks Agares if the Galgastani would be interested in hiring them to do mercenary work. Agares shoots down the proposition saying that Galgastani can do their own killing just fine enough and adds that one who values lucre over loyalty deserves only one reward.

Warren Report

A Galgastani who served his clan in battle. He was brother to Baronet Bazin of Auslan, a town in the Coritanae marches. Sir Agares was sent to reinforce the Almorica garrison, who were struggling to hold off attacks by the Duke's men. Despite his noble upbringing he was an approachable and well-respected commander.

He led the defense of Almorica Castle in place of the absent Consul Obdilord, but was slain by Denam Pavel.

Dialogue

'Interlopers! Why do you meddle in our affairs? Our struggle with the Walister goes back generations - it's no conern of yours. Or do you seek to claim Valeria, as Lodis does? I will have your answer!'

Lanselot Hamilton: We are men without a country. We have lent them our swords because it suits us to do so.

Canopus Wolph: And we're looking for mercenary work, as it happens. Not hiring, by any chance?

'And worry you'll leave for a bigger purse? We don't need outsiders to do our killing.'

Canopus Wolph: He makes a good point. Let's rescue this duke, collect our reward, and be done with it.

'A craven who would chose lucre over loyalty deserves only one reward!'

- Upon Death -

'My life... for Galgastan.'
