Pavan Bapal

Pavan Bapal (下愚 , Shimogu Bapāru, Bapal the Idiot) is a non-playable character in the Tactics Ogre games. He is the first enemy leader faced in all versions. His name was localized as Bapalu in the orignal North American Playstation release.

Appearances

In Chapter 1, after Lanselot and his party join Denam, Catiua, and Vyce in their rescue of Duke Ronwey, Bapal appears as the first enemy commander faced, guarding the Gates of Almorica. As reinforced by his Japanese nickname, Bapal isn't portrayed as the most intelligent of leaders. Bapal mocks Denam and his company for falling into the trap of coming to Almorica upon word of the Duke's imminent execution, yet Bapal mistakingly identifies Lanselot Hamilton and his Zenobian party as men from Lodis.

Warren Report

A Galgastani who served his clan in battle. At the start of the war he led a group of bandits based in the Phorampa Wildwood, but a desire to defend his homeland prompted him to enlist as a man-at-arms.

Though an experienced fighter, he lacked an understanding of the art of war, and was often mocked by other soldiers. In an attempt to prove himself he led an offensive against partisans at Almorica Castle. However, his poor reputation was only compounded when he was slain by those he sought to bring to justice. He met his end at the hands of Denam, the Hero of Golyat himself.
