Purpose Statement
All the information you never realized you needed to know. Legendary Ogre Battle is a site where we focus on cataloging and presenting our users with comprehensive and detailed knowledge on the Ogre Battle Saga series. Information ranging from lore, items, characters, world events, to the nitty gritty details of the game data itself. Our purpose is to help you find whatever piece of information about this series that you want to know, whatever it may be, and to get you to it in the simplest way feasible.
Audience Description
The target audience for this kind of site is particularly small. Though a deep favorite among those who have enjoyed the series, it never reached a wide audience leaving many anywhere of it. Our audience is primarily those who are familiar with the series. However, we also want to be accessible to those who may be new to the series and are trying to better understand either the mechanics of the game or the lore of the universe. As such, our general user age would probably fall somewhere in the 20s to 30s, education from High School graduate to college undergraduate, and income being variable and not a major factor in design.
What is the visitor doing when he/she visits the site?
There are two most likely scenarios for a site visitor, either they need only a small piece of information, such as they are playing a mission from one of the games and want to know where some hidden treasure is; or, that the visitor has come to read numerous lore focused articles. Essentially, doing more prolonged study and research on the series.
What actions or content is the visitor wanting?
“How do I have Debonair to join me” or “How many deities are there in Ogre Battle”
Does the visitor's geographic location impact the content delivery?
Geographic location does not play a factor in our content delivery with one key exception of course. A goal is of course for the site to be accessible in many different languages, not just restricted to English. This feature will come in future time however.
When is the site being visited?
Traffic is likely to come throughout the day, no particularly major heavy traffic time is suspected for the site.
How are users accessing the site?
We are expecting different devices to be predominate in different instances. For example, for someone who is reading many different articles learning about people, places, and events is more likely to be sitting at a desk using their full desktop computer, versus those who need that quick piece of information. This user is more likely to be sitting on their couch playing and using their phone or tablet to access the site and search for what it is they need to know.
Pages to Be Built
There are many more pages that can be built on the site than will be possible to construct in the time allotted, however several subject pages will be made in order to represent the different styles of content that represent the whole of the site. And so, there will be:
- 1 Home Page – this will be the landing point of the site, where the site purpose will be presented, goals and progress presented, and links which direct to topic indecies.
- 1 Character Page – Biographical information, personality traits, significant events in their life, character dialogue, and character portraits if applicable.
- 1 Location Page – Demographic/geographic information, noteworthy historical events, and maps.
- 1 Character Class Page – Statistical information and background lore associated with the class type.
- 1 Story Chapter Page – covers a chapter of the story covering events, characters, and developments. This page willcontain video media.
- 1 Mission Page - Enemy formation tables and a battle map. This page uses JSON data to retireve the formation data.
- 5 Category Page - These simple pages are the transition points from the main page into the content pages. The mission, class, adn scene versions fo these pages use JSON to pull the category lists.

Usability Concepts
Some of the usability concepts of extra note that will be implemented in the site will be keeping the home page simple and digestible, avoiding stuffing do much of to many things in it. Keeping navigation easy and not overwhelming, reasonable number per page nav. Using emphasis sparingly, which means using CSS smartly. An important one for this site is definitely to make sure all major headings are clear and descriptive. The other four critical usability concepts are a must, these were just a few that struck me as being extra important in designing for this site.
