A Bakram who was wed to the pirate Darza. She was born to nobility in Barnicia, but struck out on her own to escape the burden of her lineage. While at sea her ship was attacked by Darza's pirates, and she was taken to Ndamsa Fortress. She was unfazed by their threats of violence, and Darza grew fond of her spirited nature, keeping her always at his side. Veldrei eventually came to have feelings for Darza as well, and they married.

At first she joined him on raids, but later stayed ashore to watch over their den after learning she carried Darza's child. Though usually calm and collected in front of the other pirates, she broke into tears upon hearing of Darza's death.

She was slain in a battle with Denam while attempting to avenge her husband's killing.

Appearances

Veldrei makes only a single appearance, in Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Togther. Veldrei appears only in Chapter 2 of the Chaos path. She is the enemy commander of Ndamsa Fortress. Denam is asked by Bayin, who was being held captive by Darza, to go to Ndamsa to rescue Cistina from Veldrei. Should Denam agree to the rescue, Ndamsa Fortress becomes availabe to attack. It is possible for Veldrei to survive the battle. If she is brought down to very low hit points she will eventually surrender, and Denam will allow her to leave. In which case the Warren Report reflects this scenerio by saying:

"She was defeated in battle by Denam while attempting to avenge her husband's killing, but her life was spared."

On the Law route her fate is left unknown. However, it is likely that after hearing about her husband's death she simply continued to lead Darza's pirates. By the time of Chapter 4, Ndamsa Fortress has been occupied by a remnant of the Galgastan loyalists, with none of the pirates in sight. Veldrei and her crew had either changed hideouts before the arrival of the Galgastani, or were driven off from the fortress by the them. In summary, in the Law path, it is likely she is still alive and raiding the seas.

'A likely tale, but Darza took no fool for his wife.'

'You'll not have her back so easy as that! This one's for the boss, boys! Bring me their scalps!

'You're made of sterner stuff than you seem; poor Darza never had a chance.'

'But I'm not bested yet. I'll have my revenge.'

Denam: Enough! The battle is over. End this!

'Wh.. what?'

Denam: We did not come to fight you. Free Cistina, and our quarrel is past. End this now - for your child if not for yourself!

'End it? As you ended Darza, boy? Peddle your pity elsewhere. I'm not sunk so low.'

Denam: I did no wrong in killing your husband. It was his life or our own. I tell you, you are not our enemy save you make yourself so. Please sheath your blade. Withdraw your men. We will not pursue you.

'I'll not forget this... kindness. Nor what you have taken from me.'
