Grion Lexentale

Grion Lexentale (幽愁の , Yūshū no Rekusentēru, Gloomy Lexentale) is a non-playable character in the Tactics Ogre games. He is the first of two leaders that must be defeated in order to reach Balmamusa during the final part of Chapter 1.

His name was localized as just Lexent in the orignal North American Playstation release, while in North America version of the 2010 PSP remake he was given the new name of Grion. The Japanse version of the PSP remake kept his name as Lexentale. Grion/Lexentale still lacked a Warren Report entry in this version, so the difference in names was left unclairifed in-game. Externally, this discrepency was clarified via the Tactics Ogre: Lover's Voice fan book, published in 2011 only in Japan, which gave his original name, Lexentale, as his surname, and Grion as his given name.

In 2022, with Tactics Ogre: Reborn, the Galgastani knight finally recieved his own Warren Report entry, which, as in the 2011 fan book, gave his original name, now correctly localized as Lexentale, as his surname, and Grion as his given name.

Appearances

In Chapter 1, Grion commands a Galgastani patrol around Lake Bordu. He was tasked with guarding the Galgastani front lines, but he worried about his small forces' ability to repel the Walister should it come to battle. Grion had run-ins with Walister knight Ravness Loxaerion in the past, and when Ravness and Denam did battle against Grion at Lake Bordu, Ravness promised to avenge the many he had 'butchered' over the course of the war. Fellow Galgastnai officer Ganpp Vochstein never thought much of Grion and considered him as all talk, but no substance.

Warren Report

A Galgastani who served his clan in battle, and a professional soldier. A member of the Order under the banner of Heirophant Balbatos since before the escalation of war, he cut his teeth in battle against many dissidents. He has survived countless brushes with death, and his name is widely known even among the Walister Resistance.

While tales of fierce warriors often feature men of bold, hard temperament, Sir Grion Lexentale was different. He possessed the strength and dignity of a commander, of course, but at the same time, there was a melancholy cast to his face. Perhaps this came from his many years spent upon the battlefield, where he suffered the deaths of his men even as he savored his many victories.

After the Resistance recaptured Almorica Castle, he was ordered to guard the shores of Lake Bordu. Seeing the Resistance gaining momentum, he appealed for reinforcements of the defense lines, but his superiors ignored him. He engaged the troops of Denam marching on Balmamusa and in that battle, lost his life.

Dialogue

'Walister? Here!? And in such numbers... How does his eminance not see it? Troubled times such as these demand a staunch front line.'

[One of his soldiers attempts to desert]

'You there! Hold the line, or I'll kill you myself!'

[The deserter falls back in line]

'We cannot let these rebels cross Lake Bordu! Foward!'

Ravness: Warriors of Galgastan! Lay down your arms and you may yet live!

'By the Light! Ravness, is that you? I thought you long dead by now.'

Ravness: I know this voice. How is it that you do not find yourself dead, Grion? You have rare luck indeed. Let our swords meet. The cry of their steel is fitting lament for those you have butchered.

- Upon Death -

'More men... we needed more...'
